We as an organization saw an opportunity, especially in the digital era, to help our customers by using the key concepts of Mobile First, UI/UX design, Agile methodology, and DevOps toolchain adoption at the heart of every delivery we do. We at Grey chain, have a vision to Partner from idea to reality.
Our delivery methodology is interlocked with four key pillars which our clients get with every product we develop for them. In this article I run through our thoughts on the first pillar of Mobile-First.
Think Mobile First
In the era of digitization where every company is busy defining a digital transformation journey, we advise our customers to start thinking about digital content channels like websites, content heavy applications etc with a Mobile first view than with a desktop first mentality. The mobile first approach forces the designers to design screens responsive for your handheld devices, which is the most preferred way used by the users to access any content.
The mobile first approach organically leads you to content driven design approach. This approach pushes the organization to focus on providing clarity of the content than unnecessary decoration of the page
Based on my experience, following are the key factors why an organization should move to a thought process of Mobile-First
- From a design perspective, it is easy to scale a mobile responsive website to a full blown website to be viewed on desktops without compromising on the depth of content, speed and performance.
- Search engines like google now index the mobile-friendly version of your site. This is since, they started rolling out the mobile-first indexing feature in their search engine algorithm
- Important to think mobile-first if your application is high on content in pdf files, images and other doc types. Desktops are fast machines and can process the heavy content quickly. However for handled devices we need smaller images, pdf file optimizations and ensuring better programming techniques to ensure best load time.
- Search engines like google use mobile friendliness as a ranking signal. Websites which are mobile responsive will feature higher in the search results as compared to websites which are not mobile friendly. These search engines want to improve user experience and given around 75% of users across the world use handheld devices to access these website, it’s imperative for them to rank mobile friendly sites higher up.
We will continue our endeavour towards imparting the experience and knowledge about the digital transformation to our clients. We are happy to help organizations who have ideas and are looking for technology partners who can walk along with them to make their idea a reality.
